About the Class

This session would discuss about TOEFL IBT and the techniques that can be used to obtain a better score in it. The presenter will talk about the ways to speak your answers more clearly and how you can give a perfect answer. In addition to this, the session would also focus on the ways, you can enhance your listening abilities.

First things first: Find out about the test! Reading test specific preparation materials will help you understand your strengths and weaknesses on specific topic areas covered in the test. Understanding which types of problems are easiest and which are most difficult will help you develop a study plan for the test. While developing your plan, take note of grammar, vocabulary, listening, speaking and writing expectations. Also take note of specific exercise types on your exam.

Once you have established a study plan, you''ll need to do lots of practice. Practice begins with understanding the subjects that will be included like reading, writing and listening. If you''re not taking a course, using advanced level resources at this site can help you study up and practice grammar, build vocabulary, as well as improve writing techniques and listening skills.

Following is the method of conducting the lessons:
Your responses (between 45 and 60 seconds in length) are recorded, saved, and scored by Paula. You will be scored from 1 to 4 on each response and your overall score will be converted into a scaled score from 0 to 30 (like the other three sections of the iBT). You won''t know prior to the test exactly what the questions will be, but they will always follow a pattern. With Paula''s help, you can become an expert on all 6 speaking patterns and receive plenty of practice. Constant feedback on both the content and the delivery of your responses will be given. Also, Paula will always be available to model a response for any of the speaking tasks.

Here are the 6 speaking tasks:

• Personal Preference Task (0:15 preparation time/0:45 speaking time)
• Paired Choice Task (0:15 preparation time/0:45 speaking time)
• Announcement/Discussion Task (0:30 preparation time/0:60 speaking time)
• General/Specific Task (0:30 preparation time/0:60 speaking time)
• Problem/Solution Task (0:20 preparation time/0:60 speaking time)
• Summary Task (0:20 preparation time/0:60 speaking time)
