About the Class

Introduction to Specific Music & Math Innovations by Dr. Dani Novak, Peter Elyakim Taussig, Roman Molino Dunn. The presenters will introduce the innovations that they will be discussing at the upcoming workshops on July 24

We had some technical issues with the streaming, today. We were unable to get the equipment set up properly and the connection was slow. We are all set for tomorrow so please join us for the workshops (July 24).
Presenters:

Dr. Dani Novak teaches at the Math Department at Ithaca College. He co-designed with David Rosenthal a computer language that connects mathematics and visual arts and has been using this language in Mathematical Art course. He also directs the Ithaca GeoGebra Institute and is the co-founder of the Family Math

Peter Elyakim Taussig is a composer and educator, and during the 1970s and 80s was one of Canada's best known concert pianists, recording over 200 broadcasts for the CBC. He has performed with such conductors as Sir Andrew Davis, John Eliot Gardner, and Erich Kunzel. He was forced to abandon his performing career due to an injury, and in the past fifteen years has focused on the development of technological approaches to teaching and recording music. He was on the faculties of the University of Western Ontario, and Ryerson University in Toronto, and served as the chief technology consultant for the Royal Conservatory of Music, one of the largest music networks in the world. It was here that he first developed the concepts that lead to the PianoKids method. He later worked at the Yamaha Corporation of America on developing new recording techniques for handicapped pianists. In 2002 he launched PianoKids®, a pilot project in elementary schools in Western Massachusetts, where he currently lives.

Roman is owner of The Music Transcriber, a firm that provides music solutions, specializing in sheet music preparation and music software development. He graduated with an accelerated BS/MA from Hunter College in New York City, attaining both his undergraduate degree in music theory and his Master's in music composition in just four years.
As a music theorist, Mr. Molino Dunn has presented papers on mathematical counterpoint to the 2007 inaugural Conference of the Society for Mathematics and Computation in Music in Berlin, Germany. He has also spoken at a number of meetings of the Monroe County Arts Council. He was the recipient of the 2005 Libby Van Arsdale Award. Roman is an active member of ASCAP, American Music Center (AMC), Music Theory Society of New York State (MTSNYS), and the Society for Music Theory (SMT). Roman will be presenting on Music Notes on behalf of Jason MacCoy.
