About the Class
To be able to speak English with exact and clear sounds makes it much easier to be understood, especially by Americans, who, as a group, have very little experience with foreign people and unfamiliar accents.
For those who do business with American business people, to not to be understood or understand can be an expensive and embracing experience.
This class will be of all the sounds used in American Speech. There are 45 sounds in English, even though though there are only 26 letters. Many of the letters, especially vowels, can have up to three sounds. There are no symbols or signs to indicate the different sounds, as there are in other languages.
It is only by having a native speaker of English pronounce the words can the true English sounds be learnt. The reason for accents is that the person’s original language sounds are used to pronounce English words.
English is derived from other languages such as: French, German, Latin and Greek. The foreign words in American English often have the sound of the origin language. In reality, there is no reason that a student of English should have an accent if properly instructed.
Since this class is about sound, it is necessary to have "ear phones" to attend class. I will start the class on time, if there are no attendees in the first five minutes; I will terminate the class.
I will only take questions at the end of the class, there will be no interruptions.
