About the Class
For better or worse, we live in a world where our interdependence can either strengthen us or destroy us. We become aware of just how interdependent we are when devastating incidents caused by one person’s poor choice affect our community. At those times, we are painfully reminded that character really counts. Many people go through their daily lives not truly comprehending how much they rely on others to value life and interact with respect and compassion. Our choices, whether moral or immoral, have the potential to reverberate or ripple outward, affecting many others. In fact, some choices can even affect future generations.
This lesson, more so than the previous four, takes character out of this viral classroom and into society and the world. Students will be able to appreciate that character is not only the essential ingredient in personal choices and interactions, but also to the peace and stability of the world. It is important to instill in the minds of our children the understanding that character education is more than just another class. Character is the foundation for all moral and appropriate interactions between people.
Other concepts that will covered in this lesson are:
• Choices such as drinking and driving, as well as premarital sex, can affect others.
• Our economic stability relies on the moral integrity of our business leaders.
• Character traits that determine our interaction as individuals also play in how nations interact.
• A positive character can make a difference in our world.
