About the Class

A wise person once said, "Nobody said life would be easy." Well, whoever said that must have been trying to develop a positive character in a society much like the one we live in today. Does our fast paced, modern society create barriers to developing a positive character? Can our need for friendships and acceptance as well as our love for entertainment affect our abilities to develop positive character traits?
The reality is that every day you will be faced with challenges that will test your ability to be respectful, patient, compassionate and forgiving to others, in short, to develop your positive character.

In the last lesson, you learned what character is and how it is developed. In this lesson, you will explore ways in which our culture creates barriers to the development of a positive character. Awareness of what these barriers are and how they can affect your progress in developing positive character traits will enable you to make responsible choices.

Other concepts that will be covered in this lesson are:
• How influences affect choices and behavior.
• The role of entertainment in aggressive and promiscuous behavior
• Determining positive and negative conformity
• The consequences of risk-taking behavior.

Language of instruction: English
