Also I need to respond to the debate in class as to whether a vaccine has been developed for the H1N1 viris. The answer is yes. As a nurse here in the United States, it comes in two forms: injection and nasal spray along with how, when, where, what and why it should be given and to whom it should be given to. But this makes for a class discussion for another time.

Brazil was the first to develop a vaccine and Germany was the first to manufacture it. This fact is the object of some discussion: 1). While the facts above may or may not be true, the fact is that the viris strain is resistant to older antivirals and 2). There are two vaccines used today to combat this virus.

A graduate of Innsbruck, Zurich and Harvard universities, Dr Bischofberger headed a research team to create Tamiflu, the first orally active commercially developed anti-influenza medication, for US company Gilead Sciences in the 1990s.

and Mark von Itzstein From Australia developed Relenza. Mark von Itzstein studied chemistry at Queensland's Griffith University where he completed a B Sc (Hons) majoring in bio-chemistry and life sciences.

Oseltamivir (Tamiflu) and zanamavir (Relenza) are effective against swine flu strain H1N1. Rare, but serious side effects can be seen with these anti-viral agents. (Although rare, side effects can happen as with any medication.

The fact that this came up in your class leads me to believe that I should once again have my H1N1 class again sometime.

I applaud your efforts to have a class on such an topic being such a young individual. As with any topic some will agree with you and others will not. The important thing is that we can all learn from each other here on a plateform such as wiziq.

I hope you find this informative for future classes.

There was also some discussion on the accronym UNESCO. You were correct: UNESCO Stands for United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

Not to be confused with The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) serves as the central forum for discussing international economic and social issues, and for formulating policy recommendations addressed to Member States and the United Nations system. It is responsible for:

promoting higher standards of living, full employment, and economic and social progress;

identifying solutions to international economic, social and health problems;

facilitating international cultural and educational cooperation; and encouraging universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.

Hope this clears it up.

Hello Tanvi:

It is nice to see such an interesting class here on wiziq. Nice to have a class on "World History". Just so everyone knows: here are currently 192 member states, including nearly every sovereign state in the world.
