About the Presenter:
Buthaina Al-Othman teaches EFL and ESP in the English Language Unit of Science College at Kuwait University. She has been using blended (online and face to face) teaching and learning approaches, in her ESP, Science English classes and General English classes since she started her teaching career in Spring 2001. She has been a member of the community of practice online, Webheads in Action since it was founded in 2001-02. She is also a member of the TESOL Electronic Village Online (EVO) mentoring team. Buthaina has a Master’s of Science in TESOL from the University at Albany, SUNY, NY, USA since 2000.

About the Presentation:
The purpose of this presentation is to share the outcome of a recent learning experience of a cross-cultural Videoconferencing (VC) project between Kuwait and Korean EFL/AFL learners that was held in November 2010. The presenter talk about the benefits of VC projects and how this kinds of activity can improve students' communications skills, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.

This presentation will be focused on a recent VC project between EFL Students in Kuwait University and AFL Students in MIZY Youth Cultural Exchange Center in Seoul, Korea. The presenter will demonstrate step by step the procedures and organizations of this cross-cultural VC project, providing tips and sharing ideas with language educators and teachers on how to plan and run successful VC projects for their language classes.

Welcome to the annual connecting online live online conference (CO11). You are cordially invited to participate at the live online conference on the weekend of Feb 4-6 2011.

The conference will be of interest to educators, administrators, students, and community members who value the importance of integrating technology into the curriculum to improve instruction and learning. Online learning involves various skills on the part of the instructor and learner. These include social and communication skills, social networking, independent learning strategies, critical and higher order thinking skills, creativity, and effective online and face-to-face facilitation. In addition, there are may challenges that the educators, administrators, students, and community members face.

The CO11 will be conducted on IT4ALL Moodle with the presentations on WiZiQ through the Moodle.

2. Experiences with technology in face-to-face and online classes. What worked and what didn't work for you?


3. How do you use technology to promote and sustain your online workshops, consultation, and communities of practice and learning?

5. Reviewing or promoting books on integrating technology into the classroom, e-learning, blended learning, and blended online learning.


6. Challenges administrators, instructors, students, and community members face in connecting online.
