About the Presenters:
Shelly Sanchez Terrell is the VP of Educator Outreach for Parentella and the Social Media Community Manager for The Consultants-E. She is also the co-organizer and co-creator of the award winning educational projects, Edchat, the Virtual Round Table conference and the Reform Symposium online conference. Her prolific presence in the educator community on Twitter has been recognized by several notable entities, such as Ed Week, Converge Magazine, the 140 Conference, Mashable, English Central, Tefl.net, and T/H/E JOURNAL. The New York Times learning blog has included her on its list of the top 78 educators to follow on Twitter. Her education blog, Teacher Reboot Camp, is ranked as one of the top 50 best blogs for education leaders and one of the top 10 English Language Teaching blogs. Greta Sandler is an ESL teacher. She teaches 5th grade at a K-12 school in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is passionate about teaching and technology. She loves to create meaningful learning opportunities for her students by combining her two passions. She is the co-creator of Blog4Edu. Blog4Edu is a project to support new education bloggers, student bloggers, new bloggers, and those who feel they need more support from their educator community.She is the co-organizer of the Reform Symposium online conference. During this session we will discuss about blended instruction with Blogs and Wikis for Young Learners. We will share our experience and give ideas on how to use them in an engaging way. We will show how this supports classroom instruction.

Welcome to the annual connecting online live online conference (CO11). You are cordially invited to participate at the live online conference on the weekend of Feb 4-6 2011.


The conference will be of interest to educators, administrators, students, and community members who value the importance of integrating technology into the curriculum to improve instruction and learning. Online learning involves various skills on the part of the instructor and learner. These include social and communication skills, social networking, independent learning strategies, critical and higher order thinking skills, creativity, and effective online and face-to-face facilitation. In addition, there are may challenges that the educators, administrators, students, and community members face.


The CO11 will be conducted on IT4ALL Moodle with the presentations on WiZiQ through the Moodle.


The themes for the presentations are:



  1. Connecting Online to Improve Instruction and Learning: Online Learning and Instructional Experience

  2. Experiences with technology in face-to-face and online classes. What worked and what didn't work for you?

  3. How do you use technology to promote and sustain your online workshops, consultation, and communities of practice and learning?

  4. Research conducted on e-learning, blended online learning, and blended learning.

  5. Reviewing or promoting books on integrating technology into the classroom, e-learning, blended learning, and blended online learning.

  6. Challenges administrators, instructors, students, and community members face in connecting online.

The network was founded by Dr. Nellie Deutsch in 2006. IT4ALL includes a team of volunteers who are passionate about instruction and learning and promoting free e-learning around the world. The leading team at IT4ALL are: Dr. Ludmila Smirnova (professor at St. Mary's College in New York State, writer, experienced presenter and online facilitator), Dr. Nellie Deutsch (a Canadian instructional designer and curriculum development leader, who has been teaching English and integrating technology into her classes, and presenting, researching, writing, and providing consultation on Moodle for teachers. WebQuests, blended learning, and e-portfolios), Dariem Garcés (Moodle Developer, creator of the WebQuest plugin for Moodle, and expert in installing virtual learning environments), and other educators & technology experts volunteer their time and make up Integrating Technology for Active Lifelong Learning (IT4ALL).
