About the Class
English Literature 100: Learning to Love to Read. In this Class you will be learning what kind of Literature you love to read. Inside every Student is a hidden love of Literature. My job is to introduce you to some of the great writers and find out just what kind of reading you love. We will be reading from very rare Illustrated Manuscripts by Morris and Tolkien, some of them have been out of print for over 100 years. Great Books in English Literature, including: J.R.R. Tolkien, William Morris, Lord Dunsany, Zane Grey, Hawthorne, Bernard Shaw, C.S. Lewis, Lewis Carroll, Charles Dodgson, Edgar Allan Poe, Herman Melville, Gustav Flaubert, Henry James, Kate Chopin, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Edith Wharton, James Joyce, D.H. Lawrence, William Faulkner, most of them are Short Fictions. This Class has a suggested award of 3 or 4 Hours of College Credit given via the CATS or CEU format.
