Below is the letter for my nomination for an Excellence in Teaching Award:

Dear Dr. Wexler:

Please accept my nomination for the Adjunct Faculty Teaching Excellence Award: Jackie O’Neal. I have gotten to know Jackie at the Atlantic City Center, where we both teach, and have observed her interactions with her English students. She has been consistently available to them outside of class time and regularly tutors them by appointment. Jackie has had some very creative ideas to motivate and involve students in active learning, one of which involved my ESL students last year. Jackie (on her own time) interviewed them for her radio show; she assisted them in preparation for the interview, which reinforced written and verbal skills, and she encouraged the “shy” students to interact. Jackie has always been available and willing to share ideas with me regarding effective teaching strategies and methodology. Her teaching experience, her genuine concern and involvement with students in and out of the class, and her eagerness to exchange ideas and concerns with colleagues all indicate a person who deserves to be recognized. Thank you for your consideration of my nomination.

Sincerely, Kathy Simione ACCC Senior Adjunct Faculty
