About the Class

In this presentation Dr. Richard Solomon will discuss the evolution of an idea (i.e. the eight stage developmental career ladder for Jewish educators) to its conceptualization, the writing of a book and a blog, and the creation of a moodle course.

Richard Solomon, PhD, has served as Coordinator of Professional Development Schools (PDS) between UMCP and two neighboring school districts for the past 15 years. The PDS construct it is a collaborative enterprise between a COE and a school system. The objective of this collaborative is to bring research-based instructional, classroom management and supervisory best practices to schools that are low-performing in order to improve student achievement and staff professional development. In 2001, Dr. Solomon retired from UMCP and now focus my academic work on the integration of web technology into Jewish education and teacher training.Toward that end Dr. Solomon has written Toolbox for Teachers and Mentors: Moving Madrichim to Mentor Teachers and Beyond, a blog, and numerous articles. Dr. Solomon has also served as an adjunct professor at Gratz College in Pennsylvania, and the Baltimore Hebrew Institute at Towson University, Towson, Maryland.
