About the Class
Globalization has been aided by the technological revolutions in communications, life sciences, including biotechnology, micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), and, lately, information processing and dissemination. These have profoundly altered the requirements for participating meaningfully in the global economy and sustaining economic growth and employment. The importance of developing appropriate
institutions, and of transparency and meaningful participation in social and political spheres has also increased. The role of individual initiative and entrepreneurship has also increased.
