About the Class: |
Nellie will talk about "Coming To Our Senses: Healing Ourselves and the World Through Mindfulness" by Jon Kabat-Zinn. This is a book that has influenced Nellie's path to mindfulness meditation practice the most. Nellie often refers to book and Jon Kabat-Zinn's messages on the value of being in the here and now. She thinks it's time we came to our senses and "fell awake". According to mindfulness and Tolle Eckhart's writings and philosophy, many of us are all sleeping most of the time. She finds the humor of the book, the philosophy of the east and language of the west a great combination and always finds it fun to read. Above all, the book teaches you to be awake and live in the present with a heart and quality of mind. Nellie will talk about the use of mindful yoga, loving and valuing life and living beings, stress reduction, meditation and breathing exercises.
She also says that if she taught a class in being awake, alive and well, this would be the assigned text [not because it's a textbook, but because it's simple and well organized]. The author teaches you about the application of mindfulness meditation practice and the healing of our bodies and minds.
