About the Class

Find the equation of an ellipse using its definition, and then determine the conditions when it will become the equation of a circle, an analytical approach with coordinate geometry.
The presenter will also visually demonstrate how an ellipse transforms to a circle, with animation.
The participants will be able to describe the Locus of a circle and of an ellipse and write their equations after attending this class.
The Locus of a Parabola based on its definition will also be discussed and its equation will be found analytically.

Language of instruction: English

Keywords: visual reasoning, coordinate geometry, circle, ellipse, algebra, animation, geometer sketchpad
