Working with Audio using Audacity Public Class

About the Class

Whenever you need to record something like a narration or sound effects, you need a software to do that. Audacity is a free and open source software that you can download at:

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/

This software can not only record audio, it is also a great tool to apply special sound effects or even generate sounds from scratch to build your very own special effects for your podcast, your tutorial, your slideshow or your video.

- what is audacity
- how you get it for free
- how to use it for recording
- how to improve your recording (noise removal, compressor)
- how to create sounds from scratch (noise, tones, plucks)
- how to export your production as WAV file

Prerequisites:

Please download and install the software before you come into the class. You will then be able to follow along the live presentation and repeat the steps on your own.

Please select the Version 1.3 of audacity (even if it's announced as "beta", but it runs fine though)
