Can we overcome the crisis through a focus on human values and ethics based on Bhagvad Gita?

The ongoing economic crisis has highlighted the challenge of establishing stability and growth in the face of global recession. It has also brought into focus the critical importance of the human dimension in leadership styles and strategies which was so well explained in Bhagvad Gita.

In the turbulent and globalized corporate environment of increased complexity and speed, traditional governance styles based on unrestricted risk- and profit-taking in corporate boardrooms seem to be giving way to new approaches that are more responsive to broader societal interests which can be only perceived by a Holistic Management Philosophy Integrating different dimensions of thought , which is so well explained in Bhagvad Gita .

While the risks involved in corporate decision making are increasing constantly, the economic crisis appears to be pointing to leadership techniques that improve on the traditional ways of doing business.

Looking through the eyes of Lord Krishna , who could be referred as the CEO of the World , perhaps the world of business and the world of human values are no longer two separate worlds. Emphasizing human values may no longer be less competitive. Even with increased competition in business, there are very compelling reasons why ethics should not be compromised, and why Lord Krishna's wisdom on ethics could in fact be a prerequisite for profitability.



This BTCON08 online conference is a post economic-crash re-evaluation of what is important for stability, harmony and justice in the manufacturing, banking, trading and intellectual world.The BTCON08 will examine the measures needed to shape a sustainable future. Is the focus on human values and ethics an indispensable key to overcoming the crisis, which was so well explained in Bhagvad Gita from bringing Arjuna out of the most fundamental crisis he was facing in the battle of Kuruskhetra ?

Session 2 : Shaping the future – what are the key factors we could learn from the wisdom of Bhagvad Gita for stability, harmony, justice and equity in the manufacturing, banking, trading and intellectual world? [ This is a Workshop Session , and entry is by invitation only ]

Session 3 : How to inculcate in the education process a foundation of ethics and morality using the concept of human dignity and values as explained in Bhagvad Gita by Lord Krishna?
