About the Class

Duke Crawford is heading up a new and very cool translating application which will allow any text to be used for self study in one's native language. The project is in its infancy but we can begin to "test drive" and join in the development. This class is simply an introduction and demonstration for George (and maybe you too!) to take the first steps into Duke's "Twext thingy".

Language of instruction: English

Keywords: english, twext

Can we try recording this basic lesson again? The screenshare recording doesn't show the screenshare. The purpose of this lesson is to understand the difference between "normal" translation and "chunk" translation. Chunk translation lets us 1) group a text into WORD GROUPS, 2) TRANSLATE each chunk, then 3) ALIGN the translation between the lines. http://tuba.net/ChunkTranslateTwext.gif You can pratice chunking and translating twext here: http://labs.xc.cx/edit.html ps. next time i'll try not to sound like a robot. haha.

Profile Summary

We do not need "them", we only need each other.

This group of pilgrims called "The Edupunk" are seeking a new paradigm for online learning. We hold to several core principals:
1. All can teach, all should teach
2. Mistakes and willing to risk mistakes are much prefered over the false goal of perfection.
3. Fun activities and gaming are not only more engaging, they are the key to a sustainable model for learning... anything.
4. Live interaction and group activities create the basis for deep and experiential learning.
5. Accountability and competition is the basis of our community. We build and only associate with leaders who can recognize that they and every member have knowledge to share.
