About the Class

India is a nation of many waves - extreme riches and poverty co-exist, B.C. era beliefs live with 21st century practicality, traditions stay with modernity and spirituality lives with materialism. The current economic success has brought India to the center stage and everything to do with Indian culture, food, heritage and textiles makes headlines across the world. Among all this glitter and sometimes false information, the true treasures from ancient India sometimes go un-noticed. One of such gems from India is Vedanta. Vedas are considered as work of supreme intellect and is sometimes referred to as the first written book of human civilization. The depth of thought, in Vedas is so profound that it is almost the final frontier of understanding for human mankind, which relieves you from worldly sufferings and aligns you with the world around you leaving you in a state of eternal bliss. In this session, Swami Jee, would cover the following topics:

  • What is this Vedanta?
  • What is its history?
  • What has it contributed to the world?
  • How can Vedanta affect our day-to-day lives?
  • What has this philosophy, or culture, or religion to do with the rest of the world?
  • Can the world become better if Vedanta spreads?
  • Can anybody, of any faith and culture, accept Vedanta?

It is high time for us to realise that we don''t gain much by increasing our physical comforts. The present threat to our environment - global warming - is caused mainly by our careless use of various materials which harm the environment and increase our physical comforts. By learning more about our wonderful world and the mysteries behind all the creations, we can cut down on our physical luxuries and help to protect our environment.
