About the Class

Welcome to CO10 the annual live online conference. The conference will be of interest to educators, administrators, students, and community members who value the importance of integrating technology into the curriculum to improve instruction and learning. Online learning involves various skills on the part of the instructor and learner. These include social and communication skills, social networking, independent learning strategies, critical and higher order thinking skills, creativity, and effective online and face-to-face facilitation.

The Conference will be conducted on:

Tomaz LasicI have worked as a school teacher, sports coach, educator, mentor for the last 20 years. I am about to undertake a role of Educational Researcher at Moodle HQ here in Perth, Western Australia.
I have a Masters degree in Education (Research) in the area of social and educational equity, but that pales into insignificance compared to the amount of intellectual travels Web 2.0 has afforded me to undertake over the past couple of years.
I constantly and irreverently graze, build, borrow, discard, refine and rethink the ways we are positioned as 'players' in this awesome enterprise called education. I run a blog at http://tomazlasic.net where some of my inner monologue sees the day every now and then. As a sworn believer in serendipity, I welcome new connections (just not the ones of spam type...). You can best catch me on Twitter as lasic or email as moodlefan at gmail dot com .

Title of presentation:
Messing around with sacred cows; who learns, who teaches?

Description of presentation:
An account of an attempt to use digital technology as a tool to shake the (traditional perceptions) of student - teacher roles at a public high school in Western Australia.

From student 'Have Your Say' forums, students creating PD materials for teachers, students actively mentoring teachers, to "oh my God, I can't teach them anything" moments by fellow teachers, and more, this was an enacted glimpse of the possibilities and threats a different ontological outlook of the 'venerable roles' brought to our school community.

I am sorry that the sound was so bad that I could not hear the presentation. I sounded as if three people were talking except the few moments the mikes were muted.
