In today's world, DBA's face considerable challenge in the day to day operations of the storage layers...This presentation will address on how some of these challenges can be overcome. The presentation will primarily focus on Oracle new storage solution introduced in Oracle 10g, called Automatic Storage Management (ASM). This presentation will look at. What is ASM and why ASM is required when we have so many storage solutions in the market. Is this new storage layer going to simplify the life of a DBA? If yes then how? Further the presentation will look deeper into the architecture of ASM by understanding its Logical structure. Comparison between traditional approach and ASM. Insight in to Features like Mirroring and redundancy with ASM. The presentation will also address the various ASM Migration options.
