About the Class

Slangs in spoken English are very common in English speaking countries. Due to this, people from non-English speaking countries find it difficult to make a healthy and impressive conversation, although they may have good command over formal English speaking. Not only this, they also find it difficult to follow the English in Hollywood movies. We will enjoy some slangs in this class with their use in conversation.

sorry - I disappeared! ... is Cockney Rhyming slang from East End London 19th cent. perhaps market traders. Also - a Ruby Murray = a Ruby = curry. to rabbit (on) - rabbit and pork - to talk. to have a butcher's = butcher's hook = to have a look. In Brit Eng "knackered" = very tired (a horse which is slaughtered because it's too exhausted to work). to be p*ssed = to be drunk. (US Eng = angry) to be p*ssed off = to be angry in Brit Eng. to bang is a very crude way to say to have sex. So enjoy but use your loaf! (of bread = head - ie think carefully!!)

I enjoyed watching you all studying slang in the English language. George is dead right - it's cool to understand, but well dodgy to use it! I thought you'd like to know that apple and pears
