About the Class

First lecture on Kant's Critique of Pure Reason. In the Preface to the Critique of Pure Reason Kant develops an understanding of what makes it so hard to acquire well grounded knowledge of the world. Empiricism and rationalism cannot solve this problem, unless we take a different approach and somehow combine these two perspectives.
This class is free.
The Friday February 5th lecture continues the discussion about the Preface of Hegel's Phenomenology. A $5 entree fee ($20 a month for four seminars) is applied.

Language of instruction: English

Keywords: philosophy, kant, introduction to philosophy, german idealism
