Welcome to CO10 the annual live online conference. The conference will be of interest to educators, administrators, students, and community members who value the importance of integrating technology into the curriculum to improve instruction and learning. Online learning involves various skills on the part of the instructor and learner. These include social and communication skills, social networking, independent learning strategies, critical and higher order thinking skills, creativity, and effective online and face-to-face facilitation.

Janet Salmons PhDJanet Salmons is on the graduate faculty of the Capella University School of Business and Technology, where she develops and teaches online courses in leadership and team leadership for the Masters and Ph.D. programs, serves as dissertation mentor for doctoral learners and as Colloquium and Dissertation Writers' Retreat faculty. Her consulting practice, Vision2Lead, Inc. (www.vision2lead.com), works with educational institutions and nonprofit organizations on e-learning and e-research projects.

Dr. Salmons is a frequent conference and webinar presenter. Current publications include Online Interviews in Real Time (2010), editing the Handbook of Research on Electronic Collaboration and Organizational Synergy with Lynn Wilson (2009), contributions to the Lexicon of Online and Distance Education (2009), Encyclopedia of Information Technology Curriculum Integration (2008), and Student Plagiarism in an Online World Problems and Solutions (2007). She is author of the forthcoming Cases in Online Interview Research.

Janet completed her doctoral studies at the Union Institute and University with research in online collaboration in leadership education. She earned an MA in Social Policy Studies from Empire State College, a distance-learning institution in the State University of New York, and a BS in Adult Education from Cornell University's College of Human Ecology.

In this presentation I will discuss some of the ideas and models offered in my new book, Online Interviews in Real Time. I will discuss some of the reasons researchers conduct synchronous interviews, and ways researchers can align purpose and methodology with online data collection methods.

Great topic! I'm working on a research with a group of teachers from all around Malaysia. We plan to conduct real time interviews with them. I think I'm going to learn a lot from this presentation.

IT4ALL is a non-profit organization that provides free professional development courses on how to integrate e-learning technology into full and blended online learning (BOL) courses and workshops.
