Welcome to CO10 the annual live online conference. The conference will be of interest to educators, administrators, students, and community members who value the importance of integrating technology into the curriculum to improve instruction and learning. Online learning involves various skills on the part of the instructor and learner. These include social and communication skills, social networking, independent learning strategies, critical and higher order thinking skills, creativity, and effective online and face-to-face facilitation.

Christel Broady, Ph.D.Christel Broady, a native of Germany, is an assistant professor of graduate education at Georgetown College. She is also the director of the online ESL Endorsement program. She received her Ph.D. at the University of Nebraska where she wrote her dissertation on online teacher development. Online learning and teaching is a thread that runs through her professional life in many aspects of teaching, research, service, and advising. Christel is very interested in professional learning communities, global learning, and 21st century skills.

Building a professional learning community in an online linguistics course: How to learn together and share knowledge using moodle

Description of the Presentation
In this presentation, an example will be shared on building a professional learning community in an online linguistics course for a group of ESL teachers in training: The presentation will illustrate how to learn together and share knowledge using moodle. Tools will be presented to build community in a group of adult learners. Further, the major course assessment will be discussed in various aspects. The presentation will also show how course participants will have to use a variety of online tools to acquire mastery for their teaching careers. All such applications are done in different heritage language to collect a data base of samples for linguistic analysis. Last, the presentation will explain how all individual projects can be pulled together in one "e-book" that course participants can take with them for use in their careers.
