Feb 5-7

Welcome to CO10 the annual live online conference. The conference will be of interest to educators, administrators, students, and community members who value the importance of integrating technology into the curriculum to improve instruction and learning. Online learning involves various skills on the part of the instructor and learner. These include social and communication skills, social networking, independent learning strategies, critical and higher order thinking skills, creativity, and effective online and face-to-face facilitation.

The Conference will be conducted on IT4ALL Moodle course: http://www.integrating-technology.com/course/view.php?id=89 (enrollment key is CO10 ) and WiZiQ.

About the Presenter:
Hanaa Khamis

Hanaa KhamisThe presenter is an instructional technologist at the American University in Cairo, Egypt. She is originally an EFL instructor who is passionate about technology. After her MA in TEFL, she decided to explore the realms of technology use for better learning and teaching outcomes. She is proud to have been promoted to WikiArtisan in WikiEducator and is a proud member of Webheads in Action.

Title of presentation:
How serious are Twitter Tweets?

Description of presentation:
The presenter was first introduced to microblogging on Twitter a year ago and was unenthusiastic about becoming an active Tweeter till very recently. She was not the kind of person to post every single thought on her mind whether it is her personal feeling, latest search finding or latest activity. She also felt overwhelmed by the avalanche of tweets coming from others she was following. She had a hard time managing this information overload and would not visit her page for weeks. Now she has become familiar with efficient ways to follow and post tweets on a regular basis.

This presentation explores the value of microblogging in making online learners/teachers better-connected to communities of practice. Practical uses for microblogging in enhancing communication will be discussed. Techniques for better management of reading and posting tweets will be shown. Success stories related to microblogging will be shared
