About the Class:
Language teachers have become interested in the 3D virtual world Second Life because of its immersive and collaborative nature. Nergiz signed up last year to find out how Second Life could be used to enhance her students' learning experience. She found out that Second Life is not something that one can study theoretically. It has to be experienced. The steep learning curve and being there alone makes many teachers reluctant to sign up. However, once you are there, enormous opportunities and a new world of teaching opens up. Collaboration and sharing among teachers is the key to help new teachers get started with Second Life. In this session, Nergiz will tell the audience about:
  • SL experiments, which is the name of a wiki and a group of language teachers interested in teaching in SL
  • Her first course in Second Life

I agree with Nergiz Kern that SL is a great teaching tool that virtually puts you and your students in the classroom environment for better interactivity. I see this new virtual world to be as common as web pages are today. It's really the future of the Internet as we know of it. Captain Jack http://captainjack.tv

Hi Nergiz: I`ve tried to interact in SL but I`ve never understood how it works. Nevetheless, I`d like to learn something. Are you still interested in practicing Spanish? Warm regards, Horacio.
