About the Class

Open Education Resources (OER) is becoming much more pervasive in tertiary education. Developing content which can be shared within one institution, or across continents represents a powerful paradigm shift in the distribution methods of learning content and courseware from traditional publishing models to those which are open and collaborative in nature. Major initiatives from leading institutions to provide open courseware further support the growth of this segment of online learning.
Today, WikiEducator is extending an open invitation to particularly educators from the Caribbean, to join us on WikiEducator to partake in this Live Session as part of a Regional Caribbean Learning4Content workshop initiative, to exchange ideas on Open Education, learn how to develop Open Educational Resources and learn more about WikiEducator. Of course everybody else is welcome to join us as well.

It was too late for me in local time here in Finland. Maybe next time it could be at least one hour earlier (two hours better).

Hi Tero,
Not sure if I replied or not, doesn't like like it, but thanks for the feedback. We try hard to alternate the time and final results for final timeslots are made on the basis of which is the most predominate country that participates in our session. If this turns out to the same country all the time, we go by region to give everybody a chance. It is hard to satisfy everybody but we are trying (:-)))

Warmest,
Patricia

It was a different experience which I enjoyed. I chose to enjoy the discussion of the more knowledgeable. Wiki is indeed a new experience and a lot of the terms I have not heard before last Monday. I do use wikipedia for information but I realy did not know that it is so extended. I did not know that there is a Caribbean Educators Network either and will most certainly be checking it out. Thanks again for educating me.

Profile Summary

My name is Patricia Schlicht and I have been working with Dr. Wayne Mackintosh' as the Learning4Content Coordinator and Community Builder on Wikieducator.

I have gained extensive knowledge in open and distance learning (ODL) and technology-mediated learning.

I was introduced to the concept of Free/Libre Open Education in eLearning in 2006 and have since then gradually strengthened my knowledge in this area. I am now actively involved in promoting WikiEducator and building capacity in the global communities.

I have been facilitating WikiEducator Learning4Content online training workshops, monitor and evaluate all WikiEducator activities, among the many other activities I am involved in, in an attempt to build a sustainable global network of WikiEducators.

WikiEduator has meanwhile become its own entity and has found its new home under the Open Education Resource Foundation (OERF), formally launched on September 17, 2009 at the International Centre for Open Education at the Otago Polytechnic in Dunedin, New Zealand under the leadership of Dr. Wayne Mackintosh .
