About the Class: |
Inside Out English is a conversation class where English language students can explore the English language from the inside out—from the theme or heart of a story out to the stylistic elements such as vocabulary and grammar. Through a lively and interactive discussion of a major English-language fairy tale, students will deepen their understanding of the English style of writing, speaking and storytelling. Each class focuses on a single story which is broken down into sections and discussed. Topics such as plot, setting, characters, theme, and the story’s influence on North American culture and the English language will be discussed in a structured format. Participants will be encouraged to read ask questions during the class. Prerequisites: Participants should speak English at an intermediate level or higher. During this class Laura will discuss the English fairy tale, "The Three Little Pigs" which was first published in 1843.
