About the Class

This is a class to help you learn about the theory that underpins Basic Life Support procedures - specifically CPR - Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation. In learning the theory you are more than half way there to learning theses life saving skills. You should supplement this theory class with actual practical application on a local course, with a local provider in order that theory and practice achieve the desired outcomes.

Profile Summary

Studied for the priesthood as a missionary priest with the Verona Fathers for 9 years.
In 1974 started studying to become a nurse.
Qualified as both RGN and RMN
Later went onto work in Occupational Health with ICI plc and qualified with OHNCert (Distinction) and undertook a BA degree with the Open University.
In 1990 was employed by Manchester Metropolitan University as Senior Lecturer in Occupational Health, undertook my teachers qualification in the same year (PGCE) and then went onto do my Masters Degree in Education (MEd. During the period 1993 to 2005 at MMU worked as International Coordinator for the Department of Health Care Studies.
Currently Senior Lecturer in Nursing with a special interest in Basic Life Support.
In 2010 awarded MPhil as part of Doctoral research into skill decay in Basic Life Support programmes.
