About the Class

The Spanish Language Course “Comunicándonos”, from start, enables early-beginner students of Spanish to manage basic linguistic situations, through the learning and practicing of functions, contents, grammar and the development of linguistic and communication skills.
The course values the importance of significant exposure to the new language, intensive practice, cooperative learning and regular tutoring, key elements to learning any foreign language (both face-to-face and online).
It makes use of a variety of resources to make the experience productive and intensive.
The first Module of the Course is called “Who are you?” (¿Quién eres?). It consists on virtual meetings with amusing, relevant in-class activities and significant assignments to be done individually and/or in pairs to consolidate what is presented in class.

In this class we work on:

  • • Orality first (practice in real-like situations with both native and non-native fluent Spanish speakers, focusing on the message) and
  • • Then on how the Spanish language works (focusing on the form, analysing, practicing and consolidating content that has either been acquired both consciously and unconsciously or been part of the input students have been exposed to, during this meeting and previous ones)
The situations used for practice are based on the content acquired so far: greetings, jobs, places, countries and nationalities, question words, family members, description of people, in order that attendees orally apply this to talk about themselves and others and to interact with native and non-native speakers of Spanish exchanging information of interest for attendees.

Prerequisites:
  • • Very basic previous knowledge of Spanish (greetings, vocabulary for jobs, places, countries and nationalities, question words, family members, description of people, verbs to be-essential-, work, live, have got- preferably)
  • • At least pre-intermediate level of English
  • • Microphone for oral activities (presentations, asking, answering, etc)

Language of instruction:

Keywords: spanish, spanish language, spanish language course, spanish for beginners, online spanish classes
