About the Class: |
|
I will be teaching all about poetry. I will first start off with all the terms you need to know, including "Stanza" "Line" "Rhyming Scheme" "Free Verse" "Haiku" "Hyperbole" "Lyric" "Epic" "Metaphorical Poem" "Sonnet" and many other terms. I will then teach them how to write good poetry, try keeping your Rhyme Scheme unique. Put a lot of emotion in your poetry. If you are free versing, try to still make if flow (sound right) when you say it. Haiku's are probably both the easiest and the funnest to make, and they should always be about nature. Usually a stanza has four lines, but it can have more. There should always be a empty line between your stanzas. And some other stuff. I will tell them that they should look at examples of other poetry if they want to see what good poetry looks like, and I would suggest looking at Emily Dickinson's poetry or maybe Edgar Allen Poe. Yet while getting the idea of what good poetry looks like from the poets, you should never make poetry about the same thing they did. Try to make all of your poetry original. Then I would tell them to email me with a poem they created, like a little homework assignment, then tell them to contact me if they need any further instructions (or private classes).
