About the Class

This class will provide an overview of the role of manager. It is ideal for people who are being promoted to, or are considering moving into, a management role for the first time.

The reality is that more than half of people who move into a management role have a clear understanding of the skills needed to succeed in the job.

We will examine the definition and perspectives on management, the basic functions of management, review a sample job description and common policies and procedures that managers are responsible for applying during the course of their work.

Students will exit the class with a greater understanding of the work of management and what kind of skills one should develop to increase their success in a management or supervisory role.

Language of instruction:

Keywords: management, supervisor, management skill, role of manager, job, supervisory role
