About the Class

“The World’s Most Famous Teacher”, Rafe Esquith joins Dr. Nellie Deutsch for a conversation on WizIQ.

For the last 28 years, Rafe Esquith has lead his class of fifth graders in Room No. 56 of Hobart Boulevard Elementary School, Los Angeles, through an uncompromising and rigorous curriculum. When most students in the school drop out before high school, his students go to attend the finest colleges in the world.

Rafe, is not a fan of high-stakes standardized tests, Teach For America or the Common Core State Standards. He believes that the Common Core and other Orwellian nightmares have driven some of our finest educators out of the profession after years of dedicated and effective service.

The conversation will focus on how good teachers can continue to do a good job and have fun in spite of The System. He will also share his experiences and the pedagogy he follows to help his students lead a successful path despite of all the barriers.

Join this conversation to know first-hand what happens in Room 56.
