In this lecture we will discuss the meaning of the first 16 paragraphs of Hegels Preface, dealing with literary nature of a philosophical work and the idea of philosophy being a "system." We will read portions of the text together and I will try to answer questions. We will use Pinkard''s draft of his translation of the Phenomenology. (It is both excellent and bilingual.)
Language of instruction:
Keywords: hegel, phenomenology, preface to the phenomenology, robbert veen, german idealism, religion, spirituality

Great to hear that you will be conducting this class. I probably will be working that day. I am presently writing my own analysis of PhdG and am up to #347. Would you like to read the first two or three paragraphs? Regards, Bob Fanelli robertfanellione@verizon.net
