About the Class

We have different methods to find different quantities such as length, angle etc to find the length we use a scale or tape to measure and to measure angle we use protractor and so on. But to measure the height of a building at a certain distance away from it .at an angle of elevation, the height can be found out by taking the ratio of the sides of the right triangle formed this method of finding the height and the distance is known as trigonometry. So the trigonometry is the ratio of the sides of the right triangle having acute angles. The different ratios are:

  • sin A =opposite side of A/ hypotenuse
  • cos A =adjacent side of A/hypotenuse
  • tan A =opposite side of A/adjacent side of A
The reciprocals of:
  • sin A = cosec A
  • cos A = sec A
  • tan A = cot A
By using these ratios we can find the height of the building, the distance of the building from a point.
