About the Class

Most of communication occurs verbally, through conversation. Effective conversation is something many of us take for granted, we assume we know how to engage in and participate in conversations the lead to productive outcomes. The reality is that many people spend significant amounts of time talking at each other instead of engaging in effective dialogues which lead to mutually satisfying and effective outcomes. This session will introduce you to the basic theory of the Mobius Model, a communication model grounded in cultural anthropology that helps us understand how conversations work. We will explore the types of conversations that exist (monologues and dialogues) and be introduced to the six qualities the are present in creative and effective dialogues, the kind of dialogues that lead to creative outcomes and improved relationships. This class is ideal for anyone interested in exploring ways to improve interactions with others, improving outcomes for groups small and large or those interested in exploring a highly effective way to manage difficult conversations which lead to positive outcomes.
