About the Class

Please visit http://virtualtutor.ning.com for more info and to join our network. Portable applications are software applications that have been modified to run on a USB pen drive or USB hard drive. The beauty of these is they are free and open source. There are applications available for every task on a computer, from Office work, Animation, Games, Web Design, Graphic Design, Video, Photography and Utilities. I personally use them every single day. You can find a starter pack on my Virtual Tutor network http://virtualtutor.ning.com , complete with a customized menu enabling category folders or you can download the suite from www.portableapps.com This class introduces you to Portable Apps and also to the menu. You will discover how you can organize your apps into categories and how to get many more for your menu. I teach many more classes where all I use are these free programs; I refer to them as a complete digital tool kit that enable digital inclusion. Visit my Virtual Tutor network to find out bout and to join upcoming classes here on WiZiQ.

Profile Summary

I am a freelance teacher, Gifted and Talented provider, staff CPD and ICT consultant. I have an interest in online learning and I am currently assessing the effectiveness of available tools for teaching online. I have worked for 12 years for a global corporate enterprise in Australia and over 8 years in education in the United Kingdom. My specialty is in all things technology and media from web design, video production, photography and graphic design to PC engineering, networking and databases. Together with OCNW I have written two Access to HE (A Level) qualifications, PC Technicians and Web Development, and I am currently in my second year of the BA in Education and Training with Huddersfield University where I am specializing in technology, curriculum design and innovative teaching. I hope you enjoy your lessons with me as much as I enjoy teaching them, I look forward to seeing you online. Steve http://virtualtutor.ning.com
