About miguel rojas

Although I am Materials Engineer, I have taught how to solve Numeric Ability exercises in Pre-Universitary courses five years ago. Grupo Escalera at Universidad Simón Bolívar (Venezuela) is a good example. My native language is Spanish. That´s the reason why I will teach Spanish class for anyone who is interested in learn more about this fascinating language.

Hydrogen damage in galvanized steel
Miguel Ángel Rojas, Roberto Réquiz, Adalberto Rosales

The hydrogen damage susceptibility in hot dip galvanized and zinc electrodeposited on steel in sour environment considering the surface roughness effect, microstructure and coating thickness is presented. In spite of their different morphologies and coating corrosion these materials make more difficult hydrogen diffusion due to their barrier effect. The hydrogen diffusion coefficient gives a value between 10-10 and 10-12 cm2/s in both coatings. The gradual increase of permeation current density without reaching time lag as well as the smaller damage on hot dip galvanized substrate surface suggests this coating could be more protective against hydrogen permeation due to its thickness and intermetallics. Hydrogen ingress to steel could be delayed by different reticular parameters associated to intermetallics. Zinc electrodeposited barrier effect could be due to defects in coating. There were not differences between coating surface roughness parameters.
