Professor J. Coquilla originally came from the Philippines and has moved to United States since 2006.

He has been educated in the Philippines. He both received his Master’s degree in Theology and Teaching Philosophy at the Ateneo de Manila University.

He taught philosophy and theology at Notre Dame University, Cotabato City, Philippines from 1997 to 2006. He was sent for special studies at Varese, Italy on Human Formation and Spiritual Integration in 1999, after which he helped out in the formation of students both in campus ministry and local seminary there by giving talks, seminars, recollection and retreat.

His transfer to United States in 2006 became a unique venue for Professor Coquilla to continue teaching.

Working for almost 10 years as faculty of philosophy in the Philippines, Professor Coquilla considers again teaching Philosophy at the local community college. He is now an adjunct faculty of Houston Community College, Texas, USA beginning this fall semester 2010 teaching Ethics and introduction to Philosophy.
