eruel Rivadeneira is Head of English Department at Merlion International School (MIS) in Surabaya, Indonesia. He teaches International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) First Language English. Prior to his post at MIS, he was Head of English Department at Singapore International School (SIS-PIK) in Jakarta.

Geruel has over 13 years of experience in the field of international education. He taught Speech, English Language and Literature at the Elementary and High School departments of Philippine Academy of Sakya (PAS) (1997-1999). At the same time, he was a Part-Time Lecturer at the College of Liberal Arts of Technological University of the Philippines (TUP). He was with the English and Literature Department of the University of the Philippines Rural High School (UP RHS), the Secondary School of UP Los Banos, from 1999-2001. He was Chair of the English Department at Chung Ching Middle School Primary School (CCMS) in Brunei Darussalam (2002-2003) and Faculty of Xi an International English School in Xi an, China (2004).

Geruel is active in teacher training activities. He was invited to join a team of Philippine Normal University (PNU) trainers to lead the training of Reading Teachers in the National Capital Region and Caraga Region (1999). He spearheaded Remedial Reading Programme at CCMS Brunei Darussalam, trained teachers and chaired the meetings of HODs of English Departments of SIS.

Geruel is a singer, stage actor, scriptwriter, and theatre director. He won the Best Supporting Actor Award at a drama festival in PNU (1996) and was a member of the PNU Chorale competing team that won the Championship at the National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) College Choir Category (1996). He organised the 1st Drama Festival of PAS. At UP Los Banos, he was an award-winning director of the College of Agriculture’s entries to the Faculty, Staff, and Students theatre production competition (2000-2001). He was Director of CCMS Children’s Theatre’s first theatre production, Sleeping Beauty and Acting Coach of Anne and a Slice of Broadway, first theatre production of SIS-PIK.
