About Gail Winkler

I have been an HIT Educator since January 1998. I have taught at one time or another all but two of the classes in the HIT, Medical Coding, Medical Transcription, and Medical Insurance Specialist prgrams at Walters State Community College. As the programs grew I had to add other full-time and adjunct faculty. I assist my full-time faculty and 8 adjunct faculty with their courses. Most of our classes are taught online or as hybrid classes.

I am a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA). I am currently working on my Masters in Health Informatics and Information Management from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

I worked in Health Information Departments formerly called Medical Record Departments in various positions from graudation until I began teaching.
