About Deborah Cruthers

Deborah J. Cruthers has been involved in education for 13 years. She has taught grades K-12 for public, private, and home school students in special education, mainstream, and advanced classrooms. The past eight years were dedicated to the high school classroom where she taught world, American, and British literature as well as Advanced Placement Literature, Advanced Placement Language and Advanced Placement Psychology. Deborah utilizes technology/web based learning in the classroom to enhance the learning process and keep her students engaged. It is her belief that, in this modern world, educators must embrace blended learning in order to stimulate their students and better facilitate their academic success. Deborah’s experience with educational technology includes cloud based learning in the following venues: synchronous, asynchronous, blended, and virtual classrooms. In addition, Deborah enhances her students’ ability to study away from the classroom with the use of classroom websites such as Ning and live or pre-recorded classes/reviews such as those she has done on WizIQ. Her latest endeavors include using the rotational model of blended learning, which is a combined effort to teach twice a week and have her students use cloud based learning (WizIQ and Ning based) the other three days of course instruction, and experimenting with creating a flat classroom by reaching out to classrooms that are studying similar subjects to collaborate with online.
