Storytelling maybe old but even today, research confirms that the technique of storytelling can have a long term impact on language learning and understanding of culture. When you tell stories suited to the way children learn, their effect is even more. This online course help you to:

• Understand how children learn – and the various learning styles
• Pick up strategies to accommodate learning styles
• See the growth, development and stages of parenting expectations for language and communication skills
• Storytelling a language and literacy support
• Learn how arts and crafts can be used as a tool to support language and communication

Individuals will learn how to weave questions into the storytelling activity that will engage the child and support vocabulary expansion and other oral language skills. Arts and crafts combined with the storytelling experience will provide an opportunity for the participant to select developmentally appropriate materials and utilize suitable props.

This course assumes that the individuals who participate will be caregivers or parents of young children.
