Academic Writing for Active Lifelong Learners online course objective:

 

Participants will learn about and practice academic writing using APA style for citing and references.

 

Participants will learn what constitutes academic writing and how to use APA style for citations and references. They will read articles and summarize the information using academic writing style.

Everyone who wants to improve their academic writing style. If you feel you should improve your academic writing, join this course.

 

The course outline:

 

  • Webinars on WizIQ with recordings
  • Videos
  • One-on-one feedback on the student's writing assignments from the facilitator
  • Course content (PowerPoint/PDF files) available for download
  • Discussions, content, and submission of assignments on a course management system called Moodle. You are invited to enroll in the Moodle course once you receive the key to enrollment from the facilitator.

IT4ALL is a non-profit network of volunteers that provides free professional development courses on how to integrate e-learning technology into full and blended online learning (BOL) courses and workshops using Moodle and WizIQ. Workshops on Moodle for Teachers, WebQuests, TESOL, ESOL, Integrating Technology, Web 2.0 tools, Math, English, Spanish and other subjects. The staff at IT4ALL are all volunteers who are passionate about instruction and learning and making a difference in the world of online education. The network was founded by Dr. Nellie Deutsch in 2006. IT4ALL includes a team of volunteers who are passionate about instruction and learning and promoting free e-learning around the world. The leading team at IT4ALL are: Dr. Ludmila Smirnova (professor at St. Mary's College in New York State, writer, experienced presenter and online facilitator), Dr. Nellie Deutsch (a Canadian instructional designer and curriculum development leader, who has been teaching English and integrating technology into her classes, and presenting, researching, writing, and providing consultation on Moodle for teachers. WebQuests, blended learning, and e-portfolios), Dariem Garcés (Moodle Developer, creator of the WebQuest plugin for Moodle, and expert in installing virtual learning environments), and other educators & technology experts volunteer their time and make up Integrating Technology for Active Lifelong Learning (IT4ALL).
