I am a trained and experienced teacher in the subject areas of Special Education and Music. I received my training in Special Education from Western Governor's University. My training and experience involves teaching students from three (3) years of age to adults (K to 12). My teaching career began in 1997. However, I have been helping both children and adults who struggle with Reading since 2005. Over these years I have been very successful in moving many students, of various ages, from the point of illiteracy to full competence in all areas of Reading.
The online Reading program that I have developed on WizIQ is very comprehensive. The courses cover the five (5) crucial areas of reading : Phonics, Phonological Awareness, Vocabulary, Fluency and Comprehension. The program targets the student at the level that he/she is currently operating, then strategically and progressively moves him/her upward. Assessments are conducted before hand to determine the instructional level and the appropriate starting point for each student.
Students will use facilities such as pointing to, and highlighting words and pictures as they learn to pronounce these words. They will practice reading these words in sentences, as well as using them to construct sentences of their own. Students will also match words and find them in puzzles on the computer screen.
Another interesting facility in the program is the use of videos in the Reading sessions. Students will watch attractive and stimulating videos related to the topics and word patterns they are studying. In addition to this, all sessions will be recorded, so that students will be able to review these recordings later, and as often as they wish.
Therefore, if you have a relative or friend who struggles with Reading, or if you have a child whom you would like to get started in Reading, then I implore you to have this person enroll in my Reading program. He/she will quickly begin to see significant improvement.
