Carnatic music is believed to be one of the most advanced and sophisticated classical music systems in the world. Right from 17th century when Baluswami Dikshitar adapted the western Violin and popularised its use in Carnatic Music, violin has been an integral part of the Carnatic musical tradition.

This course helps sincere and passionate music students overcome the barrier of location and age to learn Carnatic music!

An intermediate level course, this course assumes that you have the basic knowledge of how to play the violin and can play the basic ragas. The course prepares you for a stage where you’d be able to accompany Gurus and do solo recitals of yourself.

Course instructor is a reputed Carnatic Violinist and has been honoured with ‘Lalgudi Kesava Iyer Award’ for Best Accompaniment in Violin. She has trained many students in India and overseas. Many of her Violin students went on to get Government of India’s Scholarship and many other awards.

About course instructor:

Vaikam Padma Krishnan is a renowned ‘Lalgudi Kesava Iyer Award’ winning Carnatic Violinist. She has been teaching Violin to students across the globe for last 25 years. She had basic initiation in Violin from Swathi Tirunal Music college, Kerala. She is the disciple of Kumari A.Kannyakumari who is a renowned female Violinist. She is also specialised in Sanskrit teaching.
