Course Description
Language of Instruction:English|Category: CAT: CAT Verbal Ability; GRE: GRE Analytical Writing, GRE Verbal
English or Verbal Questions in tests like GRE, CSAT appear to be based on vocabulary and grammar, but there is much more to them. For instance:
# Champagne, in addition to being wine, denotes celebration or that,
# The Rat and the Whale, though different in almost all respects, are grouped under one head as mammals; or,
# The non-living car can be grouped with a living horse (for transportation); or,
Endless list of various kinds of groupings, based on different parameters.
The GRE and CSAT measure the students skills of ‘analysis’. This analysis divides the language at two levels:
one, the literal (actual) meaning of the words,
and two, a meaning which is conveyed, but not actually said.
The skill to analyse the conveyed, but unsaid meaning is ‘Analytical English’.
Although the tests have different names, they are similar in the set of skills tested. This course prepares the student to face any of the tests named as all these require the same set of skills.
