Spanish from Scratch is a course intended for an audience that has never before been exposed to Spanish. The emphasis of the course is to understand the mechanics of Spanish and how it applies when formulating positive sentences, negative sentences as well as questions. It starts from the basic vowel and consonant pronunciation and ends with instruction on formulating sentences and questions from “scratch”.

The course begins with six or seven rules comparing and contrasting Spanish language mechanics to English. It then proceeds to the alphabet and relevant mnemonics to help remember how to pronounce the vowels. Chapter two delves into verb conjugation in the present tense. A chapter on regular and irregular verbs in the present tense and a system of positive, negative, and question formulation will be taught in the present tense using all nine subject pronouns. Subsequent chapters will teach how to construct the “easy” future using “ir”. Two past tenses are taught: the preterit and imperfect. Vocabulary rich chapters will teach approximately 5000 words. A total of 100 of the most commonly used verbs will be taught in the present, past, and future. In all, twelve chapters are taught. After the regular class, Parrilla will also be taking a 30 minutes interactive question and answer session. Enroll in this course to learn Spanish right from the basics.
