Course Description

IELTS (International English Language Testing Systems) is a standard English test, needed to study or work in a country where English is the language of communication. Over 1.4 million candidates take the test each year to start their journeys into international education and employment. It is recognised by more than 6000 institutions in over 135 countries. The test comprises of Speaking, Writing, Reading and Listening. Its IELTS Speaking that most non-native speakers dread the most. In fact in most cases, IELTS Speaking decides your final score and whether you ace IELTS or not.

The English Speaking section is generally 15 minutes long and requires you to speak with a native English speaker who is trained to assess your spoken English against IELTS criteria. In English Speaking section, the examiner will be looking for your ability to use vocabulary and grammar in a way that is clear and understandable. The test is also recorded and there are three stages to the test:

• Phase One (4-5 minutes) : Format - Conversation. You will be asked to talk about your personal situation (family, job, university study, etc.) and other familiar topics.

 

• Phase Two (1-2 minutes) : Format - Presentation. You will be given a card. There would be a topic given in that card on which you are supposed to talk for 1-2 minutes. You will have to speak on a general subject.

 

• Phase Three (8-10 minutes) : Format- Discussion. The discussion could be on the topic suggested in Phase Two. Candidates would be put under light stress and hence, knowledge of English would be essential to clear this phase. This is the most important part because it is in this part of the test the examiner establishes your final speaking score.

In this course the speaking level you will be trained would be much above the level than in the previous parts of the test. You will have to give opinions, speculate on possible events, or suggest how to solve a problem.
