Lady gives up medications after learning Buteyko. GP says, "Patients are getting almost complete cure.... Buteyko is not something used by the medical profession because it is not supported by the pharmaceutical industry, because it is a natural process. If everybody learned Buteyko there would not be many people using the drugs".

The world renowned John Govier invited Buteyko Specialists Simon Paddon and Nikki Jewell on to his Late Night Radio Show to discuss Buteyko.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of Buteyko breathing techniques (BBT) in the management of asthma. Design: Prospective, blinded, randomised study comparing the effect of BBT with control classes in 39 subjects with asthma. The study was conducted from January 1995 to April 1995.

Aim To assess the impact of the Buteyko Breathing Technique (BBT) on medication use in asthma. A blinded randomised controlled trial comparing BBT with control was conducted in 38 people with asthma aged between 18 and 70. Participants were followed for six months following the intervention. Medication use and indices of ventilatory function were recorded.
